Jillian Olinger

Chief Mission Officer at YWCA Columbus

Jillian Olinger has a diverse range of work experience in community development and engagement. Jillian currently serves as the Director of Community Life for the Great Lakes Region at The Community Builders, Inc. Since joining in 2022, they have been responsible for overseeing community programs and initiatives.

Prior to their current role, Jillian worked at YWCA Columbus as the Chief Mission Officer. Starting in 2019, they provided strategic leadership for programs, grants, and public policy portfolios. Jillian'sresponsibilities included managing programs such as the Family Center, Women’s Residency and Leadership, and Social Justice Programs.

Before their time at YWCA Columbus, Jillian worked at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University. From 2017 onwards, they held the position of Director of Division of Housing and Civic Engagement. In this role, they were involved in various research and advocacy projects focused on equitable development. Jillian also served as a Research Associate II and I, contributing to city planning, public policy research, and racial equity initiatives.

In addition to their experience in community organizations, Jillian has worked as a Community Researcher at Case Western Reserve University. In 2015, they played a key role in engaging residents in a food retail study called "foodNEST," which examined the impact of changes in the food environment on community health.

Overall, Jillian Olinger has a strong background in community development, program management, and public policy. Jillian'swork experience demonstrates their commitment to social justice and equitable engagement in diverse communities.

Jillian Olinger completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2001 to 2006. Jillian then pursued a Masters degree in Public Policy & Management with a focus on City and Regional Urban Planning from The Ohio State University from 2007 to 2009.
