Ian Cook Westgate

Ian Cook Westgate has a diverse work experience spanning from 2007 to the present. Ian started their career as a Campus Patrolman at the University of Puget Sound, where they provided assistance with tours and campus safety. Ian then worked as an ESL Classroom Assistant/Tutor at Wilson High School, assisting teachers and tutoring students. Ian continued their education at Glencoe High School, where they served as a Student Teacher, teaching 9th grade World Studies and incorporating differentiated instruction strategies.

Ian further developed their teaching skills as a Substitute Teacher at EMS SubDesk LLC, where they taught in various long-term roles across multiple school districts. Ian also worked as an English Tutor at Huntington Learning Center, mentoring students and improving their test-taking abilities and reading literacy.

In 2019, Ian ventured into the tech industry, starting as a Student at Epicodus, where they practiced pair programming, contributed to group projects, and brainstormed with peers and instructors. Ian then interned as a Front End Development Intern at iVET360, where they optimized website performance and enhanced user experience using WordPress, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript.

Ian's technical skills expanded as a Technical Writer at WEO Media - Dental Marketing, where they researched and simplified dental jargon and topics into easily understandable articles, following SEO guidelines set by each dental office.

Currently, Ian works as a Tier II Support Specialist at Zapproved, where they provide support and assistance to customers.

Throughout their work experience, Ian has demonstrated strong communication skills, effective time management, and a passion for education and technology.

Ian Cook Westgate obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Puget Sound, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Later, they pursued a Master of Education (MEd) degree from Portland State University between 2012 and 2014.
