Senior Application Development Engineer at Zemax

David Vega has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and roles. David currently works at Ansys as a Lead R&D Engineer since November 2021. Prior to this, they were a Senior Application Development Engineer at Zemax, LLC starting from June 2021.

David Vega has a comprehensive education history in the fields of biomedical and optics/optical sciences and engineering. From 2016 to 2021, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at the University of Arizona. Prior to this, from 2016 to 2018, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Optics/Optical Sciences from the same university.

Before their time at the University of Arizona, David attended California State Polytechnic University-Pomona from 2012 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics. Additionally, they studied at Riverside City College from 2008 to 2012, graduating with an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Computer Science and an AS degree in Information Technology.

In terms of additional certifications, David has acquired several qualifications. David completed courses such as "Leading Productive Meetings," "Make the Move from Individual Contributor to Manager," "New Manager Foundations (2022)," and "Onboarding New Hires as a Manager," all through LinkedIn in March 2023. Furthermore, they possess certifications in optical design software, including "CODE V" and "LightTools" from Synopsys' Optical Solutions Group, as well as "VirtualLab Fusion" from LightTrans International UG. David also holds certifications in advanced optical system design, illumination & stray light, and optical system design, all granted by Zemax, LLC.
