Stefan Madansingh has a diverse work experience in various fields such as technology development, research, and entrepreneurship. Stefan started their career as a Solution Analyst at Mxi Technologies in 2008. Stefan then worked as a Summer Fellow at the Canadian Space Agency in 2011 and as an Aerospace Medicine summer intern at DLR, where they completed a feasibility study for implementing a motion capture system.
In 2010, Stefan joined the Center for Neuromotor and Biomechanics Research (CNBR) as a Research Assistant and later became a Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Houston. During this time, they developed and administered undergraduate courses, conducted human research studies in the CNBR Laboratory, and focused on human performance, motor control, and fall risk.
In 2013, Stefan pursued their interest in neurovestibular research as a Ph.D. Graduate Student at NASA Johnson Space Center. Stefan assisted in experiments and analyzed the effects of microgravity and body weight unloading on balance and neurovestibular coordination in returning astronauts.
Starting in 2016, Stefan ventured into the startup world as the Director of Research and Development at iShoe, Inc., a balance management startup focused on empowering individuals to track and minimize fall risk. Stefan then served as the Director of Research and Development at ZIBRIO, a company that developed the Zibrio SmartScale for measuring and tracking physical balance.
In 2019, Stefan returned to Mayo Clinic and held multiple positions in the Office of Entrepreneurship, including Research Fellow and Manager of "The Hatchery" Life-Science Incubator. In these roles, they taught Lean Startup methodology, mentored clinicians and researchers, and facilitated a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Currently, Stefan is a Technology Development Associate II at Mayo Clinic Ventures, where they continue to contribute to the development and commercialization of technologies.
Stefan Madansingh obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Aerospace Electronics and Systems from Carleton University, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. Stefan then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Human Space Exploration at the University of Houston from 2010 to 2012. Following that, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Kinesiology, specializing in Biomechanics, Motor Control, and Space Life Sciences at the University of Houston from 2012 to 2016.
In addition to their academic achievements, Stefan Madansingh also earned the certification of Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) from the Project Management Institute in February 2013.
