Thomas Powell is the founder of ZingChart, where application and library architecture, API design, and business development are key responsibilities, alongside the creation of comprehensive documentation. As a lecturer at the University of California, San Diego's CSE Department since 1999, Thomas specializes in Web-related classes with a focus on JavaScript, web application security, and usability. With extensive experience as an author since 1996, particularly for Osborne McGraw-Hill and Prentice Hall, Thomas is currently developing a digital-first book titled Introduction to Web Technology. As CEO of PINT, Inc., Thomas oversees a growing web development agency, while also having served as lead investor and acting CEO at Port80 Software. Previous roles include instructor at UCSD Extension and test alliance member at Network World, with early career experience in programming and system administration at CERFnet. Thomas holds an MS in Computer Science from UC San Diego and a BS in Math, CSE, and Operations Management from UCLA.
