Nitish Padmanaban

Founder & Head of Research at Zinn Labs

Nitish Padmanaban is the founder and head of research at Zinn Labs. Nitish was previously an engineering intern at Apple on the Display Incubation team from June 2019 to September 2019. Prior to that, they were a research intern at Magic Leap from June 2017 to September 2017, working on display technology.

Nitish Padmanaban has been a PhD candidate at Stanford University in the Computational Imaging Lab from September 2015 to June 2020. Their research has been in the area of developing new methods for image formation and processing with a focus on computational imaging, medical imaging, and machine learning.

Nitish also interned at Synaptics as an architecture intern from June 2015 to August 2015, where they worked on hand optimized assembly for 20% overall reduction in processing cycles. Nitish also developed alternative algorithms to correct for certain physically-derived imperfections in touch detection. Lastly, they created a frontend for data collection from various types of devices.

Prior to their work at Synaptics, Nitish Padmanaban was an engineering intern at General Electric from June 2014 to August 2014.

Nitish Padmanaban started their research career as an undergraduate researcher at UC Berkeley – Conolly Lab from February 2013 to May 2015. Nitish then became an undergraduate research volunteer at UC San Diego – Ward Lab from May 2012 to August 2012.

Nitish Padmanaban received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to that, they received their Master of Science - MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and their Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

They work with Robert Konrad - Founder & CTO, Gordon Wetzstein - Founder & Chief Scientist. Their manager is Kevin Boyle, Founder & CEO.
