Hugo Carr

Hugo Carr has a diverse work experience spanning from 2005 to 2019. Hugo started their career as a Release Management Intern at Catlin, where they helped implement a version control manager for financial risk assessment software. Hugo then worked as a Photoelectric Design Intern at Omron, where they worked on improving a photoelectric sensor.

In 2011, Hugo joined The MathWorks as a Statistical Modelling Consultant and Software Engineer. Their main focus was integrating MATLAB algorithms into Java applications and they worked on various projects such as interest rate forecasting, iris recognition, and radar tracking.

Hugo then moved to King in 2013, taking on the role of Data Science Tech Lead. Hugo mentored a group of data scientists and reviewed their work. In 2015, they transitioned to the role of Core Data Model Product Owner, where they led a team of data warehouse engineers and architects. Hugo set the roadmap for core data products and ensured the technical work aligned with business needs. Hugo also integrated research from data science teams and worked with the company's data leadership to set the vision for the future of the data warehouse.

In 2016, Hugo joined Scopely as the Director of Data Products. Hugo was responsible for managing and monitoring the life-cycle of game data, processing large amounts of events to support various areas of the business.

Hugo's next role was at Deliveroo in 2018, where they worked as a Back End Developer. Hugo supported a delivery network between consumers, restaurants, and riders, using technologies such as Go, Docker, Kafka, SQL, Ruby, Terraform, and AWS.

Most recently, Hugo joined Zipline in 2019 as a Back End Developer. Hugo built the data platform that comprised a constellation of services for reading and analyzing log data from drones. This platform utilized technologies like ElasticSearch and Snowflake for fast and slow access to the data.
