Backend Software Engineer - U.S.

Zoba builds leading spatial optimization products to improve the efficiency of cities and the lives of people that live in them. Zoba speeds adoption of electric, sustainable urban mobility solutions by increasing operational efficiency and profitability of operators. • Architect and implement a production-grade platform: You will design, build, and maintain Zoba’s core platform, accounting for scalability, availability, end-user features, and security. These services automate the decision-making of operations strategies for mobility companies worldwide.
• Improve machine learning efforts: You will work on implementing machine learning models and building data infrastructure to scale our models for production usage.
• Design, build, and launch new products: You will work closely with product managers and designers to launch new products that serve customer needs. You will fully own a part of the product and drive its development, including ideating with the product team, validating with customers, drafting technical specs, and implementation.
• Consistent learning and growth: You’ll have the opportunity to keep learning about and push the envelope of how geospatial analytics, machine learning and optimization can help improve the efficiencies of cities.

What we are looking for:

• Thoughtful and methodical problem solver: You enjoy thinking rigorously about API design and systems programming and are comfortable moving across the stack.
• Familiarity with our technologies: You understand how parts of a system fit together - from the data model to infrastructure configuration. Experienced candidates may have: Strong system design and programming skills; experience with Python and Django is a plus. Built and operated production systems using relational databases such as PostgreSQL. Leveraged cloud infrastructure such as AWS. Built and scaled event processing systems (a plus!).
• Ability to own and drive projects: While years of experience doesn’t always correlate, we think you’ll likely have 2-3 years of experience as a software engineer.
• Tool agnostic: You care more about solving customer problems and building a delightful experience than using a particular technology.
• Collaborative and biased toward action: You thrive in a team-first environment, have a “get-it-done” attitude, and care about growing and helping others do the same.
• Bonus: You are interested in spatial data, mobility, and making an impact on cities and the lives of people who live in them.
