Yap Ching Chew has a long career in research and operations. From 2002 to 2008, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During this time, they discovered five distinct biotinylation target sites in histone H2A, established the role of histone biotinylation in regulating the expression of retrotranspons, and developed a novel ELISA assay for quantifying histone debiotinylation. From 2008 to 2012, they were a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where they published three first-authored papers, four co-authored papers, and one review paper, and identified a new mechanism whereby PKC delta regulates both skin cell proliferation and differentiation. From 2012 to 2015, they were a Scientist and Director of Epigenetics Technologies at Zymo Research Corp, where they managed a group of seven Scientist and Research Associates across multiple projects, oversaw and maintained Epigenetics product lines and ChIP-Seq services, and interacted with R&D scientists to facilitate technologies transfer to direct-to-consumer market and clinical market. Finally, from 2015 to present, they have been the Chief Operating Officer and Director at Pangea Laboratory.
Yap Ching Chew completed a B.S. in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln between 2001 and 2003. Yap Ching then attended Tunku Abdul Rahman College from 1999 to 2000, studying Biochemistry.
