Meta

Meta has hired Trapit Bansal, a highly influential OpenAI researcher, to bolster its AI reasoning models. Bansal, who previously worked at OpenAI since 2022 and was a key contributor to its AI reasoning models, will join Meta's AI superintelligence unit. Meta, aiming to build competitive AI agents, is aggressively expanding its AI team, but faces challenges as OpenAI plans to release its own AI reasoning model. Read More

After 37 years at the helm of American Vogue, editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is stepping down from her role—leaving the fashion world in stunned silence—and stilettos. Wintour, who joined Vogue in 1988, will remain at Condé Nast as Global Chief Content Officer and Global Editorial Director at Vogue. As the iconic editor prepares to pass the torch, she shared her eagerness to support the next generation of editors while the magazine searches for a new head of editorial content. Read More

Omead Afshar, Tesla's VP, has been given the boot by CEO Elon Musk. Afshar, a key figure behind the building of Tesla’s Austin factory was let go amid ongoing company struggles, including falling sales and a 71% profit drop. The move coincides with Tesla’s long awaited limited robotaxi launch, which has drawn comparisons to Google’s more advanced Waymo. While Tesla’s $1 trillion valuation looms large, the rollout has sparked debate over whether Waymo’s $45 billion valuation undervalues its edge in autonomous driving. Read More

Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty CFO Paula Oyibo is stepping down just over a year after taking the role. Longtime exec Chris Lialios will serve as interim CFO. Despite mixed stock performance, Ulta remains confident, citing strong sales from hits like Milk Makeup and Korean Beauty (K-Beauty). Read More

Anthropic

Francis Wilson, formerly of Amplitude, has joined Anthropic's Seattle office to work with their GTM applied AI group. This move comes as Anthropic faces a class action lawsuit from authors who allege the company used copyrighted books to train its AI models. While a judge supported Anthropic's argument of fair use, a huge win for the AI industry, the company is also grappling with allegations of pirating books, something the jugde can’t seem to justify. AWS

AWS is undergoing changes as Vasi Philomin, the VP overseeing generative artificial intelligence development, exits after eight years. Philomin was instrumental in leading generative AI efforts and product strategy, including helping lead Amazon Titan and Bedrock. His departure comes as Amazon works to strengthen its AI position against rivals like OpenAI and Google. Read More

Boeing

Boeing has appointed former Lockheed Martin executive Jesus “Jay” Malave as its new CFO, effective August 15, replacing Brian West, who will remain in an advisory role. The leadership change comes amid Boeing’s broader transformation efforts to rebuild its reputation and increase jet production. Malave brings experience from L3Harris and United Technologies, following his recent exit from Lockheed in April. Read More

Florin Rotar is leaving Avanade, the Seattle-area IT services and consulting firm, after a 25-year run. Starting as Avanade's first European employee in 2000, Rotar climbed the ranks, most recently to Chief AI Officer. Read More

Direct Line

Direct Line is undergoing a leadership re-shuffle following its £3.7 billion sale to Aviva. CEO Adam Winslow, who joined in March 2024 after a stint at Aviva, is stepping down along with CFO Jane Poole. The takeover—now under review by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority—has sparked concerns over 2,300 potential job cuts. Read More

Q32 Bio Inc., a biotech company developing therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, has appointed Dr. Adrien Sipos as Interim Chief Medical Officer, succeeding Dr. Jason Campagna.
