Sapan Patel

Sapan Patel, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2008 as a Lecturer at Smt R D Gardi Govt. Diploma Pharmacy College, Patel gained teaching experience before moving on to intern at Anzenna, Inc in 2010. After completing an internship, Patel joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2010 as a Volunteer Research Assistant, performing various tasks related to cell culture and flow cytometry. In 2012, Patel transitioned to the role of PhD at the same institution, focusing on research and writing papers and grants. Patel also served as a Research Assistant during this time and gained experience in a wide range of techniques and tasks, including DNA extraction, protein purification, and gene expression data analysis.

Following the completion of a PhD, Patel joined Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2016, where they continued their research before transitioning into industry. In 2019, Patel joined Hitachi Chemical Advanced Therapeutics Solutions, LLC as a Senior Quality Control Associate and later as a Quality Control Scientist. In these roles, Patel contributed to quality control processes and analysis. A year later, Patel joined Minaris Regenerative Medicine as an Analytical Scientist for a brief period in 2020.

From 2020 to 2022, Patel worked at Johnson & Johnson as a CAR T Scientist in Late Stage Process Development, focusing on advancing their expertise in developing CAR T therapies. Currently, Patel is employed at 2seventy bio, where they hold the positions of Senior Lead CMC Analytical Product and Associate Director Quality Product Lead (QPL) since 2022 and 2023 respectively. In these roles, Patel is responsible for leading and ensuring the quality of products in the biotechnology sector.

Sapan obtained their Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Software Engineering Jobs in 2008. From 2009 to 2010, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Biotechnology at New York University.

In 2012, Sapan Patel embarked on their doctoral studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from Clarkson University. During this time, they also pursued a Ph.D. in Oncology and Cancer Biology, Protein purification, proteomics, and molecular biology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, further enhancing their expertise in the field.
