Brian Cothroll has extensive work experience in the legal field. Brian started their career as an Attorney at Foley & Lardner LLP in 2003, where they managed complex business and securities litigation and provided advice on governance and shareholder rights matters. In 2010, they joined A. O. Smith Corporation as an Assistant General Counsel, where they managed product liability defense and recall programs, introduced policy and process changes that reduced product liability claims, and refreshed outside counsel relationships. In 2013, they were promoted to Associate General Counsel, responsible for securities regulation, public company disclosure, and risk management. In 2016, they became the Deputy General Counsel at A. O. Smith Corporation, providing legal strategies and counsel to various stakeholders. Brian is currently serving as the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, leading the global compliance function and serving as the primary legal counsel to the largest business unit's executive team.

Brian Cothroll attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Brian later pursued further education at the University of Wisconsin Law School from 2000 to 2003, earning a J.D. degree in Law.
