Software Development Engineer at A Thinking Ape

Dennis Tsang has had a varied and successful career in software development. In 2008, they began as a Customer Support Co-op at Broadcom, developing modifications and new features for Wi-Fi phone firmware and interacting with vendors through an online customer support portal. In 2009, they moved to Tantalus as a Quality Assurance Automation Co-op, developing a customizable framework for automated testing of a web configuration interface and creating scripts to help integrate internal QA documentation systems. In 2010, they held two positions: a Web Developer Co-op at INETCO, where they developed UI widgets in Adobe Flex in a MVC framework and profiled and optimized PostgreSQL database queries for a suite of reports; and a Teaching Assistant at The University of British Columbia, where they assisted students in Java and C++ labs and mentored teams and marked project deliverables for a project course. In 2011, they were a Software Developer Co-op at A Thinking Ape. Finally, they have been a Software Development Engineer at A Thinking Ape since 2012, working on their game 'Kingdoms of Heckfire' in Unity (C#) and Django (Python). Dennis has developed dynamic in-game competitions, promotional systems for the in-game storefront, integrated sound effects and music from two different engines into a cohesive experience, and developed a pipeline from build machine to CDN delivering dynamic and optimized content updates to live clients. Dennis has also worked on native iOS/Android SDKs (Objective-C and Java respectively), and Django (Python) backend for 'Kingdoms at War' and 'Party in my Dorm'.

Dennis Tsang completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering Option from The University of British Columbia.
