Denise LaMotte

Director, Benefits, Global Benefits Practice Center at Abbott

Denise LaMotte is the Director of Benefits at Abbott. Denise has been with the company since July 2017, and in their current role, they lead strategy development and recommendations for U.S. health and welfare benefits for employees and retirees. This includes overseeing benefit compliance activities, vendor selection, vendor and program management, and benefit implementation and execution.

Prior to joining Abbott, Denise was with Walgreen Co. for over 14 years, where they advanced through multiple positions with increasing responsibility. These roles included Compensation Services Manager, Benefits & Employee Communications Director, Benefits Manager, and Compensation & Benefits Project Manager. During their time at Walgreen Co., Denise was key in developing and implementing company-wide benefit programs for over 240,000 team members. This included designing and implementing the company’s first broad-based vision plan and consumer-directed health plan.

Denise LaMotte has a type AM degree in Labor & Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a BA in Economics from the same school. Denise is certified by UC Berkeley Executive Education in Leading Innovative Change and by WorldatWork in Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).

Denise LaMotte reports to Mary K. Moreland, EVP, Human Resources. They work with Nancy Panetta - Global Divisional VP, Human Resources, Kevin Ball - Global Director, Training and Development, and Maureen Clayton - VP and Executive Director, Clara Abbott Foundation.
