Rebecca Goydel, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Rebecca began their career as a Summer Researcher at Marshall University, where they learned techniques such as western blotting and histology. Rebecca then joined The Scripps Research Institute as a DiVerge participant and later as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow. During this time, they conducted research in the Cancer Biology and Chemistry departments.

After completing their undergraduate degree, Rebecca worked at West Virginia University Hospitals as a shadow for Dr. Hannah Hazard, gaining insight into surgical oncology and admissions. Rebecca also presented their previous research at various conferences as part of the American Chemical Society.

At Fairmont State University, Rebecca held multiple roles, including Biochemistry Teaching Assistant, Inorganic Laboratory Instructor, and Chemistry/Math Tutor. Rebecca also conducted research in collaboration with West Virginia University.

Rebecca later rejoined The Scripps Research Institute as a Doctoral Student in the Immunology and Microbiology Department, working on the humanization of rabbit antibodies and the development of cancer-targeting antibody formats. Additionally, they took on various leadership roles, including Communications and Outreach, Graduate Student Council Member, Peer Coach, and DiVerge Co-organizer.

Rebecca'smost recent position is with Seismic Therapeutic, where they served as a Scientist and Business Development Associate, focusing on antibody discovery and business development. Currently, Rebecca is the Scientific Director of Business Development at Abzena, a bioconjugate and biologics-focused Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization. In this role, they help biotech and biopharma companies maximize their investments in human health by developing innovative solutions.

Throughout their career, Rebecca Goydel, PhD has shown a strong commitment to research, teaching, mentorship, and leadership within the field of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Rebecca Goydel, PhD, earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Antibody Engineering from Scripps Research in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Fairmont State University in 2016. In 2014, they served as a Summer Research Fellow in Pharmacology at Marshall University. Rebecca completed their high school education at Wheeling Park High School, Jupiter Community High School, and Mountainburg High School in 2012, 2010, and 2009 respectively.
