Andy Heffernan

Andy Heffernan serves as the Chief Executive of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, leading the organization in providing dementia-specific services and advocating for the rights of individuals living with dementia and their carers since May 2022. In addition to this role, Andy holds board positions with Alzheimer Europe and Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, demonstrating a commitment to healthcare and support services. Previously, Andy was the National Secretary for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland and served as Chief Executive at St John of God Community Services Ltd, overseeing extensive mental health and disability services. Andy's career began in the Defence Forces of Ireland, where a diverse range of command and operational roles were held. Academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science from University of Galway and a Master of Science from Ulster University, alongside a Certificate in Charity Law, Trusteeship & Governance from the Law Society of Ireland.
