Camila Garces

Director of Product Development at actnano

Camila Garces has over 20 years of experience in product development and research. In 2000, they began their career as a Production Assistant (intern) at Henkel S.A. (Schwarzkopf-Silueta). In 2002, they moved to QUALA S.A. as a Research and Development Assistant Engineer, where they formulated, developed, and scaled-up new varieties of one of the company's leading products. In 2004, they began working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Akron, where they synthesized superparamagnetic nanomaterials of metal oxides that were homogeneously dispersed on a copolymer matrix. In 2010, they joined Saint-Gobain as a Group leader ADFORS / Principal Scientist, where they managed the R&D team and project portfolio on innovative industrial textiles for construction materials. Camila also initiated and co-directed projects to develop innovative sensing textiles in collaboration with industrial partners and academic institutions. In 2022, they began working as Director of Product Development at actnano, Inc.

Camila Garces has a Ph.D in Polymer Science from The University of Akron, which they obtained from 2004 to 2010. Camila also has a BS in Chemical Engineering from National University of Colombia. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including "One-Minute Habits for Success" from LinkedIn in April 2022, "Leadership Strategies for Women" from LinkedIn in February 2021, "Strategic Thinking" from LinkedIn in August 2020, and "Mastering Design Thinking" from MIT Sloan School of Management in March 2020.
