Advanced Input Systems (AIS) is a leading design and manufacturer of Human Machine eXperience (HMX) products and solutions for a broad range of markets and applications. AIS specializes in both standard products and OEM custom solutions including electro-mechanical assemblies and immersive products, such as virtual reality and electronic wearables, infection control products, medical and industrial display interfaces and control panels, and touchscreen displays.

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Electronics Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Sustaining projects. You will play a crucial role in the Concurrent Engineering activities across Concept Development, Pilot Production, and Full Rate Production of a variety of immersive, industrial/commercial, and medical technologies and products with varying levels of functionality and complexity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • As assigned, operates CAD systems and supports analog/digital electrical schematic designs. Works closely with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineers, from conception through production, to deliver high-quality designs and documentation packages that meet Product Requirements and are Manufacturable and Testable.

  • Supports evaluating and processing both internal AIS and external customer-driven electronic component design changes to include Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)/End of Life (EOL) and related alternate component investigations.

  • Maintains an accurate component library within eCAD design and layout tools.

  • Supports Value Stream Managers and Engineering Project Managers with evaluating and developing proposals and scope and effort required to upgrade or re-design existing customer products.

  • Supports NPI rapid prototyping, design and development, design assurance, and production build activities to include Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) / customer return support.

  • Supports Production Operations and Manufacturing Engineering with both Product and Test/Measurement/Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) triage, troubleshooting, Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and hardware repair/retrofit, as required.

  • Supports Quality and Manufacturing engineering with Material Review Board (MRB)/Non-Conforming Material (NCM) investigations and Continuous Improvements initiatives supporting improved yield, reduced cost of poor quality, and consistent on time product delivery.

  • Provides accurate assessment of risks and supports development/deployment of related risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience with schematic capture tools, applications, and related design practices (e.g. OrCAD/Cadence Allegro, Circuit Studio)

  • Knowledge and experience in performing thermal and electrical stress analyses for electronic assemblies and use of component derating techniques

  • Experience and demonstrated skill in AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Proficiency in general use and operation of electronic TMDE (i.e. DMM, osciliscope, etc.) in an electronics manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work tight schedules with extended hours, if required, possibly during heavy periods or on critical projects

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills a must

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and extremely collaborative

  • Comfortable with fast pace, constant change, and handling multiple projects

Desired:

  • IPC Certification CID or CID+

  • Familiarity with Industry, IPC and relevant PCB Standards

  • Familiarity and experience with Accuris/IHS industry component repositories

  • Experience with designing for EMC and ESD mitigation and compliance

  • Familiarity and experience with Designing for Manufacturability, Assembly (DFM/DFA),Testability, and Automation

  • Rapid prototyping knowledge, skill, and experience (e.g. Voltera PCB prototyping)

  • Ability to design and develop analog and digital system hardware schematics

  • Familiarity and experience with Lean principals and Concurrent Engineering

  • Possesses and maintains an in-depth understanding of design steps and assembly processes of electronic products/assemblies

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of five (5) years previous experience in electronic design field.
