Zi Dong Leong

Zi Dong Leong has a diverse and extensive work experience in the banking industry. Zi Dong currently works at Affin Bank Group as the Project Director of the Balance Sheet Management System. In this role, they are responsible for the end-to-end aspects of the system and is the primary solution architect. Zi Dong also leads pre-project kick-off efforts for server hardware and architecture planning.

Prior to their current role, Zi Dong worked at Affin Bank Group as the Head of Balance Sheet Management. Zi Dong established the Balance Sheet Management Department and was responsible for various initiatives related to structural NII and NIM, liquidity and funding, and Treasury strategy. Zi Dong also oversaw the MFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss team.

Before Affin Bank Group, Zi Dong worked at Maybank as an Operational Risk Specialist, Credit Evaluation Manager, and Asset Liability Management Specialist. In these roles, they enhanced credit evaluation through automation and peer benchmarking, proposed strategic initiatives on ALM matters, and authored blueprints for cost savings.

Zi Dong also has experience working at CIMB Thai Bank as the Acting Head of Capital & Balance Sheet Management and as a Capital and Balance Sheet Manager. During their time at CIMB Thai Bank, they advised on funding and balance sheet management matters, proposed strategies to improve NIM and profitability, and led the revision of the FTP framework.

Zi Dong's experience also includes working as a Capital and Balance Sheet Management Advisor at CIMB Bank PLC (Cambodia). In this role, they were involved in the Cambodia Asset Liability Committee, set up the Funds Transfer Pricing from scratch, and optimized ROE through funding, lending, and capital analysis.

Zi Dong began their career at Marsh as an intern before joining CIMB in various roles, including Assistant Vice President and Management Trainee. Throughout their career, Zi Dong has demonstrated strong expertise in funds transfer pricing, interest rate and liquidity risk management, and capital and balance sheet management.

Zi Dong Leong holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics (MORSE) from the University of Warwick, which was completed from 2006 to 2009. They also have a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School, obtained in 2010, and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Actuarial Science from Bayes Business School, also obtained in 2010. In addition, Zi Dong Leong has obtained the Pasaran Kewangan Malaysia Certificate (PKMC) from ACI-Financial Markets Association of Malaysia & Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers in 2013.
