As the Director, Event Experiences at AffiniPay, you will drive the strategy, planning and execution of our events and tradeshows in order to generate demand and engagement across our entire suite of brands and products.  You will lead a team that executes over 100 events in the legal, accounting, and other professional industry verticals annually.  Additionally, you will oversee the entire event life cycle of planning, implementation and postmortem.  You’ll work closely and collaboratively with the Creative, Brand & Communications, Sales teams, and company leadership to understand the needs and goals of each event. You’ll be responsible for setting budget allocations and event goals, maintaining budgets, tracking performance and ROI, and making sure all events are successful and seamlessly executed.

You have the proven leadership experience to manage a small team and think strategically, while also rolling up your sleeves and getting stuff done. You are the type to obsess over details, display poise and sophistication in fast-moving situations, embrace ambiguity, and deliver results.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish, organize and own the annual events calendar by strategizing and prioritizing the best industry events and tradeshows with the VP, Channel Marketing 
  • Research and identify new event growth opportunities where AffiniPay and it’s brands could drive an increase in lead generation
  • Develop bold event strategies and creative activations that generate pipeline and revenue with a key focus on ROI.
  • Identify and negotiate various sponsorship opportunities with industry and affinity partners and develop opportunities for breakouts, speaking engagements, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Collaborate with the design and product marketing teams on messaging, branding, and overall presence to maximize traffic to booths.
  • Demonstrate consistent leadership of a team of event planners and field marketers, providing strategic direction, coaching, and career guidance
  • Provide accountability for overall event schedule and strategy for each vertical, including ROI for each event; 
  • Provide trade show performance data on a proactive basis to key functional leaders and business stakeholders
  • Maintain budget tracker and event planning documents per event to capture all planning elements, activities, and spend.
  • Lead pre- and post-event initiatives, including marketing promotion, sales outreach, logistics/setup, creation of event-specific collateral, lead tracking, and ROI measurement.
  • Make data-driven recommendations for future events, leveraging insights to continuously improve our event strategy.

About You:

  • Bachelor degree in marketing or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years  of event experience leading an external event strategy within a B2B SaaS environment
  • Minimum 3-5 years leading a team of event planners
  • Ability to translate marketing objectives and overall brand strategy through event execution and experience
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze event data and metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Strong experience with event budget and vendor management
  • Creative problem-solver with a high attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills, analytical ability, both creative and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to travel as needed in the US and Canada (25%+ travel expected)
  • If you live near one of our offices in San Diego or Austin, we work in a hybrid capacity!

Nice to Haves:

  • This position is preferred to sit in Austin, TX and work out of our HQ Offices in Westlake
  • Experience in legal tech  events a plus
