Ken Gareau

Scientist II at Affini-T

Ken Gareau has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Ken currently works as a Scientist II at Affini-T Therapeutics, starting in January 2023.

From 2020 to present, Ken has been involved with Aikido Tekkojuku of Boston as an Instructor and Board Member.

Prior to their current positions, Ken worked as an Associate Scientist at Generate Biomedicines, Inc. from August 2021 to December 2022.

Ken had a significant tenure at Editas Medicine, starting as a Contract Research Associate in June 2017 and progressing to roles such as Senior Research Associate and eventually Principal Research Associate. At Editas Medicine, they played a crucial role in designing, performing, and analyzing experiments investigating the behaviors of cells treated with CRISPR-based systems. Ken presented research findings, provided insight into potential avenues of study, and helped improve lab performance and efficiency.

Before Editas Medicine, Ken worked briefly as a Senior Research Associate at VL 33, Inc. and as an Associate Scientist at Cyprotex.

Ken's early career included a role as an Associate Scientist I at Excelimmune, Inc., where they developed and optimized antibody-based functional in vitro assays and performed genetic cloning and mutagenesis.

Ken completed their graduate studies at the University of Rhode Island, where they worked as a Graduate Student and Graduate Teaching Assistant from 2008 to 2011. Ken also served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Fisher College in 2011 and gained research experience as a Student Researcher at Wilkes University from 2007 to 2008.

Ken Gareau completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Wilkes University from 2004 to 2008. Ken then pursued their Master of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Rhode Island from 2008 to 2011.
