Tianyao Chen is a mechanical engineer with experience in research and development. Tianyao began their career as a Research Assistant at The Catholic University of America in 2013, where they worked on developing hand rehabilitation devices and designing and testing finger exoskeletons for post-stroke patients. Tianyao then served as a Research Associate at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in 2013, where they ran experiments and tested prototype devices on hand movement enforcement robots. In 2014, they joined Disney Research as a Lab Associate. From 2017 to 2018, they served as a Research Engineer at Walt Disney Imagineering, and then as a Director of R&D at HuMoTech from 2018 to 2022. Finally, they are currently a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Agility Robotics.
Tianyao Chen attended Beihang University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering. Tianyao then went on to Carnegie Mellon University, where they earned a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from 2011 to 2013.
