AHK has an exciting opportunity for a Sampling & Preparation Analyst to join the team at Olympic Park, Dundonald. The Sampling & Preparation Analyst is responsible for carrying out sampling and sample preparation procedures in accordance with ASTM and ISO International Standards.  Working with the Deputy Sampling & Sample Prep Manager (All Fuel Streams) to ensure that an effective and high-quality service is provided to meet reporting deadlines on the various types of samples/commodities submitted to the laboratory for analytical evaluation. To ensure full compliance with the company's ISO 17025 accreditation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Accurately sort and weigh waste samples into appropriate categories as detailed in the specific analysis sort sheets, record and keep safe all analysis data, maintain confidentiality of sample materials and analysis data.

  • Collect samples, which will include driving a range of vehicles up to and including a 3.5 tonne Luton box van, ensure that vehicles used are driven safely and are returned clean and full of fuel (if required by the hire agreement).

  • Liaise with the public if necessary and record any on site observations.  It is expected where an employee does not hold a full UK driving licence that the employee will endeavour to pass his/her driving test to enable him/her to carry out the role to full potential.

  • Record and keep safe all analysis data, maintain confidentiality of sample materials and analysis data.

  • Assist with the preparation of samples for chemical and moisture analysis as required.

Desirable

  • Minimum 1 year experience of inspection and sample preparation analysis, in particular working with coal/biomass and RDF business streams desirable but not essential.
