About the Role

In this role, you will lead the verification and validation of autonomy features and decompose product requirements and safety mitigations into feature-level requests. You will collaborate with various stakeholders both internal and external and surface any issues to the appropriate teams.

About the Work

  • Lead the verification and validation of autonomy features for L2+ through L4 deployments by proposing and executing test plans. 
  • Decompose product requirements and safety mitigations into feature level requests and coordinate with autonomy software teams throughout the implementation process.
  • Support system analyzes like HARA and STPA,  and lead the efforts on decomposing the requirements into autonomous platform readiness metrics. 
  • Collaborate with various internal departments like autonomy, vehicle, operations, etc and conduct trade off studies on autonomy feature requirements and validation criteria.
  • Work closely with controls, embedded SW and test teams to review and recommend changes to existing requirements and test plans for vehicle systems.
  • Lead technical conversations with OEM/Tier-1 partner on autonomy interface and decompose requirements into autonomy features while actively identifying the gaps in the current architecture and validation process.
  • Design closed course test plans and work with operations personnel to ensure tests are executed correctly. Occasional travel to test facilities.

About You

  • Deep understanding of how autonomy and vehicle systems work and ability to leverage this knowledge to plan for verification and validation. 
  • 5+ years of experience defining features for autonomous or ADAS applications.
  • Experience testing in HIL environments or on road testing. 
  • Hands on experience in systems engineering and automotive functional safety (ISO 26262) or similar safety standards/ processes including requirements generation.
  • Ability to read code in C++ and write code in Python.
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.

Bonus Points 

  • AV or ADAS background. 
  • Hands on ADAS testing and tuning experience, including FMVSS or NCAP.
  • Worked with large OEMs typically as a tier 1 setting.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $167,200 and $250,800 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
