Rick Rijkse

Principal Data Scientist at Ahold Delhaize

Rick Rijkse has a solid background in data science and has held various roles in different companies. Rick started their career as a Student Assistant at SOLVE Consulting NL, where they worked as a Nonprofit Consultant for a few months. Rick then joined Nielsen as a Data Scientist, where they focused on creating econometric models and applying machine learning techniques to evaluate advertising campaigns. During their time at Nielsen, they also served as the Chairman of the Works Council. After that, Rick joined Rabobank as a Data Scientist, where they worked on projects related to developing early warning signals for customer financial vulnerability and building machine learning models. Rick eventually became the Lead Data Scientist at Rabobank's Tribe Data & Analytics, where they were responsible for ML architecture, quality assurance, and setting standards for data science products. Currently, Rick works at Ahold Delhaize as a Principal Data Scientist, where they are involved in building demand forecasting systems to improve replenishment and reduce food waste.

Rick Rijkse completed their education at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Rick obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Econometrics and Operations Research in 2013, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Econometrics and Management Science in 2014. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including ones in business partnering, Azure AI and data fundamentals, machine learning, Docker, agile scrum, and data representation in Python. Rick has a diverse range of educational and professional development experiences.
