Andries Smit is the Head of Legal The Netherlands at AIG, having joined the company in 2023. Previously, they held various legal roles at Allianz, including Regional Head of Legal Northern & Eastern Europe and General Counsel Benelux & Nordics, from 2015 to 2021. Their earlier experience includes positions at Fortis Intertrust, Solon Advocaten, and as an owner/legal counsel at Begrijpbaar Juridisch Advies from 2012 to 2015. Andries began their legal career as a legal intern at Snoek de Jong Advocaten in 2006 and also worked in menswear at Adam from 2004 to 2006. They are currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Company Law at Leiden University.
