Matthew Helfand

Matthew provides comprehensive municipal and land use planning advice to private and public sector clients. Drawing on his experience working within and alongside municipal government, he provides practical solutions to complex and challenging legal matters.

Matthew is a member of the Aird & Berlis Municipal & Land Use Planning Group. His practice focuses on municipal, land use planning, residential tenancies and expropriation matters across Ontario. Matthew regularly appears before the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Ontario Land Tribunal, Toronto Local Appeal Body and the Committee of Adjustment. Matthew has also appeared for clients before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court and the Ontario Divisional Court. Matthew is the co-author of Ontario Expropriation Law and Commentary and is a regular contributor to the Digest of Municipal and Planning Law.
