Operations Safety Lead

A Snapshot 

As the Operations Safety Lead - AUS, you will report directly to the Head of Safety - Business Operations and work closely with the wider Safety team, making your mark in several ways: 

• Integral in building a safety culture by advising on the health, safety and risk associated with business activities across Business Operations. 

• Drive implementation of excellence in safety practice to ensure safety is a core value for all workers, contractors, and suppliers. 

• Implement industry-leading quality measures across the business that will lead to sustainable business outcomes. 

 

Your Day to Day  

With a focus on Operational Data Centres and Support Offices, you will: 

• Champion the safety culture and embed safety as a core value by engaging with workers, management and contractors to assist with the implementation of strategic safety improvement initiatives. 

• Lead incident management processes to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. 

• Support local teams to review near misses, incidents and incident investigations including root cause analysis and work with teams to develop and implement corrective actions. 

• Assist with risk management activities across Business Operations. 

• Support the implementation of safety management systems and improvements to data and information systems. 

• Support compliance with legal safety requirements as well as internal management system requirements. 

• Assist with presentations to customers and partner with customers, vendors and suppliers to achieve safety outcomes, as required. 

• Assist with safety critical initiatives, programs and projects as required. 

• Provide safety training, mentoring and coaching. 
• • Support improvements to safety data and reporting systems including the collection, interpretation, analysis and presentation of data to identify trends and patterns for prompting action on improvements as required. 

  Requirements 

  • 5+ years’ in a safety role with experience with operations and contractors in high-hazard industries such as construction, oil & gas, mining, or processing plants – critical environment experience is highly regarded. 
  • Experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems. 
  • Auditing and inspection experience both internally and of third parties. 
  • Detailed knowledge of risk management strategies and processes. 
  • Experience in root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective actions. 
  • Above-average writing and data presentation skills. 
  • Professional attitude with persuasive skills in making things happen. 
  • Experience positively influencing workers, management, and contractors. 
  • Ideally, you have safety experience across developing economies.
