Casey Wegner

Casey Wegner has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. They began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2009 and later continued their research work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut from 2011 to 2014. In 2013, Casey worked as a Patent Intern at NUtech Ventures, Inc.

After completing their academic roles, Casey joined Michigan Medicine in 2014 as a Business Analyst & Funding Coordinator for Fast Forward Medical Innovation. They later became a Senior Business Analyst in 2015, overseeing the Fast Forward Medical Innovation program.

From 2016 to 2020, Casey worked at Zomedica, a diagnostic company. They held various roles, starting as a Business Development Analyst and then progressing to Director of Business Development. In 2018, Casey took on the position of Sr. Director of Research & Development, Partnerships, where they directed assay development and next-generation assay strategy activities. They also played a vital role in developing biomarker strategies and managing intellectual property creation.

Currently, Casey Wegner is employed at Akadeum Life Sciences, Inc. as the Director of Research & Development since August 2020. They recently transitioned to the role of Vice President of Research and Development in January 2022.

Casey Wegner has a strong background in science and nutrition. They obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Agronomy and Horticulture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the year 2008. Casey further pursued their education at the same institution and received a Master of Science (MS) degree in Plant Sciences/Agronomy in the years 2009 to 2011. Subsequently, they attended the University of Connecticut from 2011 to 2013, where they completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Molecular Nutrition.
