Erik Tillman

Erik Tillman, PhD has extensive work experience in various scientific and research roles. Erik is currently serving as the Associate Director of Translational Biology and Pharmacology at Akero Therapeutics since July 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal Scientist at the same company from October 2020 to June 2022. From November 2018 to September 2020, Erik worked as the Senior Scientist and Associate Director of Scientific Strategy at Akero Therapeutics.

In 2018, they worked as a Fellow at Vida Ventures, LLC from May to November. Before that, Erik served as the Chief Scientific Officer at Disease Diagnostic Group, Inc, a startup focused on providing low-cost diagnostic technology for infectious diseases in developing countries. Erik conducted market research and customer development for the company from February 2015 to November 2018.

Erik has a strong educational background, having obtained their PhD in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in August 2018. During their time at MIT, they conducted research on endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Quantitative Biology.

Erik also worked as a Cell Biology Curriculum Consultant at Amplify and as a Research Technician at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Erik started their career as an Honors Thesis Student/Research Assistant at Williams College and later served as a Teaching Assistant in Genetics at the same institution.

Furthermore, they gained research experience as a Research Assistant at Columbia University Medical Center in 2007. Overall, Erik Tillman, PhD has a diverse background in scientific research, teaching, and leadership roles in the biotechnology industry.

Erik Tillman, PhD, obtained a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Biology from Williams College in 2010. Erik later pursued a Doctorate in Biology, earning a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2018.
