Tebogo Mokwena has worked in a variety of roles since 2013. In 2013, they were a Research Fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. From 2014 to 2015, they were the President of World Merit, a Computational Analysis research assistant at the University of Cape Town, a Participant at the Nexus Global Youth Summit, and a Founder of Pach-it. In 2015, they were also a Software Developer at Allan Gray Proprietary Limited and an Associate at iXperienceCT. In 2016, they were a Digital Consultant at McKinsey & Company. Finally, since 2018, they have been the Co-founder and CEO of Akiba Digital, and the Co-founder and CTO of Akiba, a next generation financial marketplace that is AI and data driven.
Tebogo Mokwena completed a National Senior Certificate at Calvin College from 2007 to 2011 in the field of Science. From 2012 to 2015, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Genetics, and Biochemistry from the University of Cape Town. In 2013 and 2014, they also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2017, they completed a Master's Degree in Computational Science/ Machine Learning from USI Università della Svizzera italiana. In addition, Tebogo Mokwena has obtained certifications from Coursera Course Certificates in Functional Programming Principles in Scala in 2016, and a Ruby on Rails Web Development certification.
