Jan Christian Kerlefsen has extensive work experience in engineering and research and development. Jan Christian is currently working as the Director of Engineering and R&D at AKVA group ASA since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked at ABB Robotics for a significant period, starting as an R&D Engineer in October 2002 and eventually becoming a Local Division Manager in October 2012. In their role as Local Division Manager, they were responsible for the local business, including R&D, production, and customer service. Jan Christian was also a member of the ABB Norway leadership team. During their time at ABB Robotics, they also served as an R&D Manager, overseeing the research and development of the company's paint robot portfolio and managing a team of 45 R&D engineers.
Jan Christian Kerlefsen's experience also includes working at Simula Research Laboratory as the Chairman of the board of Certus SFI from January 2016 to December 2019, representing ABB Robotics in the Norwegian Research Council funded center for innovation-based research.
Before joining ABB Robotics, they worked at Sony Corporation as a Senior Software Designer, where they designed and implemented core software technologies and application ideas for various Sony business units. Jan Christian was responsible for designing and implementing Sony's XML software suite for consumer electronics products.
Jan Christian Kerlefsen began their career as a Research Scientist at Norsk Regnesentral, where they were a member of the object-orientation research group and contributed to several commercial and academic projects and publications.
Jan Christian Kerlefsen completed their education in computing science. In 1989, they enrolled at the University of Bergen (UiB) and studied computing science for a year. Following that, from 1990 to 1993, they attended Newcastle University, where they obtained a degree named Siv. Ing. awarded by NTH in computing science.
