Benjamin Anafi

Benjamin Anafi has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Benjamin is currently serving as the Head of Governance Risk and Compliance at ALI BIN ALI since August 2022. Prior to that, they held the role of Director, Compliance Advisory Services at Huntswood from January 2022 to November 2022.

Before joining Huntswood, Benjamin worked at Bank of China, where they held various compliance leadership roles. Benjamin served as the Head of Core Compliance (Central Compliance) from January 2020 to January 2022, Head of Compliance Operations from January 2019 to December 2019, and Head of Retail Banking Compliance from January 2018 to January 2019.

Earlier in their career, they worked at Barclays as a Compliance Advisory from February 2016 to January 2018. Prior to that, they were employed at Telefonica as a Compliance Manager from October 2014 to March 2016. Benjamin also served as an AML Compliance Manager at HSBC from October 2013 to October 2014.

Benjamin's career started at the Financial Ombudsman Service, where they worked as an Adjudicator from November 2011 to April 2013. Overall, they have built an extensive experience in compliance and governance roles across various organizations in different sectors.

Benjamin Anafi completed their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in Law from The School of Oriental and African Studies in 2007. Benjamin then pursued further education at The College of Law, where they obtained their LPC (Legal Practice Course) degree in Law from 2009 to 2011. In 2014, Benjamin earned a CISI Investment Operations Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Benjamin also acquired a Diploma in Governance Risk and Compliance from the International Compliance Association in 2016. Additionally, Benjamin has engaged in various short-term courses, including Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association in 2013 and Compliance from the Cambridge Judge Business School in 2017. Prior to their higher education, they completed their A Levels at St Charles Sixth Form College in 2003 and their GCSEs at Cardinal Hinsley RC High School from 1995 to 2000.
