Joe Gilpin

Joe Gilpin has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering, planning, and advocacy for bicycle infrastructure. Joe started their career as the Executive Director of the SLO County Bicycle Coalition in 2003. In 2004, they transitioned to become a Planner at RRM Design Group until 2006. Since September 2006, Joe has been the Vice President and Director of Engineering at Alta Planning + Design, where they manage projects and staff nationwide, with a focus in the Mountain West and Southeast states. Joe also provides technical trainings on complete streets and bikeway design and serves as Principal in Charge and advisor for nationwide bikeway and complete streets projects.

Joe Gilpin completed their undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 1996 to 2001, earning a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation Engineering. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Transport Planning at Oxford Brookes University, attending from 2001 to 2002.
