Darryl Blackburn

Darryl Blackburn has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Darryl is currently working for Broadleaf, Inc. as the Director of Software Engineering since July 2021.

Prior to their current role, Darryl held the position of Director of Technology at Altum from February 2016. At Altum, they were responsible for overseeing technical operations and providing guidance on various frameworks, languages, and operating systems. Darryl also managed employee recruitment, training, task delegation, code reviewing, and work progress monitoring.

Before Altum, Darryl worked at Broadleaf Inc. as a Sr. Development Team Lead from December 2009 to February 2016. In this role, they managed a team of developers supporting Broadleaf's commercial and federal product lines, including systems for the National Guard. Darryl also maintained web and application-based reporting tools for the National Guard.

Prior to joining Broadleaf, Darryl worked at Lucidiom Inc. as a Development Team Lead from May 2005 to December 2009. Here, they managed a development team and oversaw the creation and management of software for networked photo kiosks in retail chains and stand-alone businesses. Darryl also led several large retail chain software development and distribution projects.

Before Lucidiom Inc., Darryl worked as a Handheld Systems Engineer at Planning Systems Inc. from April 2003 to May 2005. In this role, they developed applications for handheld devices and assisted in software deployment and hardware configuration for city-wide gunshot detection systems.

Other roles in Darryl's career include Wireless Server Developer at Altarus Corporation from November 2001 to April 2003, Lead Software Engineer (Contract) at Keyware Technologies from January 2001 to November 2001, and Software Engineer at Riverbed Technologies/Aether Software from May 1999 to January 2001.

Darryl's early career included a role as an Associate Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin from May 1998 to May 1999. In this role, they were responsible for the implementation and installation of the Defense Message System.

Throughout their career, Darryl has gained expertise in software engineering, team management, technical operations, and product lifecycle management.

Darryl Blackburn pursued their higher education at Radford University from 1994 to 1998. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science.
