Philippe Buc is a full professor at Leiden University since August 2021 and has been a professor at Universität Wien since September 2011. From September 2012 to February 2015, Philippe Buc served as Vize-Studienprogramleiter at Universität Wien, overseeing history curriculum development and quality supervision. Prior to these positions, Philippe Buc was a professor at Stanford University from 1990 until November 2011, involved in curriculum development and quality control. Philippe Buc's educational background includes a doctorate in history from Ecole des hautes Etudes en Sciences sociales and multiple master's degrees in medieval and Japanese history from the University of California, Berkeley, and University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, as well as a bachelor's degree in history from Swarthmore College.
