Ashwin Kumar

Ashwin Kumar has extensive work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Ashwin is currently serving as a Senior Principal Scientist at Alvotech since July 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Biofusion Therapeutics as a Principal Scientist from July 2021 to July 2022. From August 2019 to June 2021, they held the position of Scientific Manager at Biocon. Ashwin also worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Biopharma Division) from January 2019 to July 2019.

Ashwin started their career in 2015 at Pfizer, where they served as a Research Scientist. During their time there, they were involved in various aspects of R&D Biologics, including analytical method development, method verification, in-process analytics, and the transfer of analytical methods between different sites for recombinant therapeutic proteins. Ashwin also mentored new employees and played an integral role in a project that resulted in the first biosimilar to Epogen being approved by the FDA.

Before joining Pfizer, Ashwin worked at Hospira as a Research Scientist in the Biologics (Biosimilars) division from April 2013 to August 2015. Ashwin also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher from April 2012 to March 2013.

Ashwin's educational background includes a research scholar position at BITS-PILANI from 2005 to 2011 and a role as a Research Manager in R&D Biotech at Shasun Chemicals & Drugs from February 2003 to April 2004.

Ashwin Kumar received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biotechnology from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in the years 2005 to 2011. Ashwin also holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Biotechnology from the same institution and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) degree from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai.
