Monica Aguilar-Scion

Monica Aguilar-Scion is an experienced professional currently serving as an English Language Instructor at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology since September 2023, and as a Wellness Partner with Amare Global from May 2020. Monica has a rich background in music, performing as a violist with the Okinawa Symphony Orchestra since November 2018 and as a freelance musician since 1998. Monica's prior experience includes serving as an Assistant Language Teacher for the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program(me) from August 2018 to August 2023, supporting multiple high schools and special needs schools in Okinawa. Additionally, Monica has worked in the healthcare field as a Clinical Assistant at Hawaii Pacific Health from January 2014 to August 2018 and has also taken roles in various restaurant settings. Monica holds multiple degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and other institutions, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Minor in Music, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Ethnomusicology.
