The Strategic Manager is expected to deliver increased value (assured supply, lower costs, lower total cost of ownership, speed to market, and innovation) through leveraging the company’s third party spend on both goods and services, developing framework agreements where strategically appropriate, and managing key supplier relationships and contracts. The position is also expected to influence stakeholders for the specification of goods/services to tailor-fit demand and tap advantageous supply markets.
This role will have both local and global coverage, with direct responsibility on driving cost reduction efforts, a clear understanding of business needs and develop matching supply market opportunities and sourcing strategies, underpinned by the following principles:
Take part and encourage inclusive, collaborative, cross-functional communities (Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Management, Third-party contract manufacturers, and suppliers) that co-create solutions in support of developing a robust sourcing pipeline.
Pursue and deliver the best end-to-end deals for the Company with a high sense of commerciality.
Put in place fit-for-purpose category strategies and Framework Agreements (FA’s) with inputs and insights from key stakeholders grounded on relevant business drivers and local/global market knowledge.
Responsibilities:
Define, execute and take ownership of spend category strategies
Negotiate and implement FA with selected suppliers in support of the category strategy
Ensure component parts and service solutions meet stringent quality requirements and standards
Support identification and develop consistent procurement strategy approach by working closely with technical functions
Develop and maintain relevant market intelligence and supplier database.
Drive improved cost modeling capability, particularly on a total installed cost basis
Job Specifications:
Minimum 7-year experience in developing, negotiating and implementing local/ global procurement strategy across projects and business units.
BS Engineering, Accounting or Business degree with experience in sourcing, supply chain or contract management is preferred
Relevant experience in negotiations and project management is an advantage, accompanied by a strong commercial mindset and business acumen
Experience in developing Contracting Strategies is needed; challenge status quo and steer projects with clear strategic intent.
Strong analytical skills to be able to perform benchmark analyses and offer a menu of solutions.
