Jennifer Herrera-Mullar has a diverse work experience. Jennifer started their career as a studio teacher for violin and viola in 2003 while also serving as a violin faculty at the Preparatory Division of the Peabody Institute from 2006 to 2013. In 2009, they became a violin faculty at York College of Pennsylvania. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Genetic Counselor at WellSpan Health. Jennifer then joined Ambry Genetics in 2014, starting as an Oncology Genetic Specialist and later transitioning to the role of Oncology Reporting Genetic Counselor. In 2020, they became a Senior Genetic Counselor specializing in reporting, and in 2022, they were promoted to Principal Clinical Scientist. Additionally, they have also been a Section Violin II player in the York Symphony Orchestra since 2019.
Jennifer Herrera-Mullar completed their education at various institutions. Jennifer started their academic journey at the University of Iowa from 2001 to 2003, focusing on Violin Performance. Jennifer then attended the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music from 2003 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance with a minor in economics. Jennifer then pursued a Master's degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from The Johns Hopkins University, which they completed from 2005 to 2007. Afterward, they continued their education at The Johns Hopkins University from 2007 to 2011, earning a Doctorate in Violin Performance. Following their passion for genetics, Jennifer Herrera-Mullar then pursued a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Maryland Baltimore, which they obtained from 2011 to 2013. Jennifer also holds additional certifications as a Licensed Genetic Counselor in Pennsylvania, obtained in 2014, and as a Board Certified Genetic Counselor, awarded by the American Board of Genetic Counseling in 2013.
