Nicholas Warren, PhD

Assistant Director, Science and Regulatory Policy at American Association For Cancer Research

Nicholas Warren, PhD has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as Assistant Director of Science and Regulatory Policy at the American Association for Cancer Research. Prior to this, they were a Science and Health Policy Analyst and Science Policy Program Administrator at the same organization.

Before joining the American Association for Cancer Research, Nicholas worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Dartmouth College, where their research focused on the discovery of distinct mechanisms of action for Checkpoint kinase 1 (CHK1) inhibitors in cancer cells.

Nicholas also gained experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where their work involved characterizing the properties of Methanobactin, a bacterial biomolecule that binds and reduces metal ions. Additionally, they discovered that Methanobactin can catalyze the formation of gold nanoparticles without an apparent electron donor.

Nicholas's work experience also includes a summer research fellowship at Mayo Clinic, where they investigated the effect of insulin supplementation on skeletal muscle autophagy in diabetic mice. Nicholas learned various molecular biology techniques and had the opportunity to shadow post-doctoral fellows during MRI scans and other procedures.

Nicholas Warren, PhD, began their education at White Bear Lake Area High School in Minnesota, where they completed their high school education from 2005 to 2009. Nicholas then pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 2009 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry.

After completing their undergraduate degree, Nicholas went on to enroll at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where they dedicated six years from 2013 to 2019 to pursue their PhD. Their field of study during this time was Cancer Biology and Molecular Therapeutics, culminating in the completion of their Doctorate degree.
