Facoem Douglas Martin M.D., Fiaime, Faafp

Douglas Martin MD, FACOEM, FIAIME, FAAFP has extensive experience in the field of occupational and environmental medicine. Douglas currently works as a Physician at CNOS. Prior to this, they served as the President of Martin Occupational Medicine, P.C. since July 1999. Douglas also worked as the Center Medical Director at Octapharma Plasma, Inc. starting from April 2012. Furthermore, Dr. Martin held the position of Immediate Past President at the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine since June 1999. Douglas has also served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association since 2017. In the past, they were the Medical Director of Occupational Medicine at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's. Dr. Martin was involved in various leadership roles with the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians. Douglas has also worked as the Medical Director at HealthSouth and WORKS Occupational Health in the past.

Dr. Douglas Martin completed their education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biological Sciences from 1983 to 1987. Douglas then pursued their medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with an MD in Medicine from 1987 to 1991.

In terms of additional certifications, Dr. Martin obtained several throughout their career. In 1994, they became a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician through The American Board of Family Medicine. In the same year, they also became a Civil Surgeon certified by USCIS.

Dr. Martin further expanded their certifications. In 1995, they achieved the status of Fellow in the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (AADEP) and also became a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (CIME) through the AMERICAN BOARD OF INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMINERS. In 1996, they obtained the title of Fellow from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Additionally, in 1999, they became a Fellow in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).

In later years, Dr. Martin continued to pursue additional certifications. In 2014, they became a Certified Medical Examiner under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In 2015, they obtained the certification of Professional Supervisor of Audiometric Monitoring Program from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation. In 2016, they became a Certified Medical Review Officer through the American Association of Medical Review Officers.

Recently, in 2021, Dr. Martin obtained another certification as a Certified Medical Review Officer from the MEDICAL REVIEW OFFICER CERTIFICATION COUNCIL.
