Jalisa Bell Powell has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Jalisa started working at the Brain Injury Association of Maryland as a Legislative Intern in January 2010. Later that year, they joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine as a Lead Health Educator & Recruitment Coordinator, staying there until July 2012. In 2013, Jalisa joined The Coordinating Center, where they held multiple roles including Hospital Transition Liaison & Transition Coach, Quality & Outcomes Manager, and Community Transition Liaison & Training Manager. Jalisa worked at The Coordinating Center until February 2018.

From February 2018 to February 2021, Jalisa worked at the American Heart Association as the Director of Community Impact and Project Manager for Community Health in Action, a multi-sector initiative aimed at improving access to specialty care for at-risk patient populations. In February 2021, they transitioned to the role of National Program Lead, Risk Factors & Director for the National Heart Failure Initiative at the same organization.

Jalisa Bell Powell received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Administration & Policy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2006 to 2010. From 2012 to 2015, they pursued a Master's degree in Human Services: Health Management & Policy at Capella University. Prior to that, they attended the School of the Arts from 2002 to 2006.
