Charrise Phillips Hollingsworth

Human Services Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Charrise Phillips Hollingsworth, PhD has extensive work experience in various roles related to human services, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and education. Charrise currently works as a Human Services Researcher at the American Institutes for Research since July 2022. From September 2020 to June 2022, they served as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion / Policy Fellow at the Office of NC Governor Roy Cooper. Prior to that, they were an Applied Human Development Instructor and Graduate Researcher at Vanderbilt University from August 2014 to June 2021.

Charrise also has experience in policy and advocacy, having worked as a Leadership for Educational Equity Policy and Advocacy Summer Fellow at the Children's Defense Fund in May 2014. Charrise has also worked as an Educational Consultant at Classroom, Inc. in June 2013.

Their early career involved instructional support at Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools from November 2012 to June 2013. Charrise also held managerial roles in teacher leadership development at Teach for America from June 2011 to August 2012. Additionally, Charrise has teaching experience as a Teacher at Miami-Dade County Public Schools from June 2009 to June 2011.

Charrise began their career as a Research Assistant at the Terry Sanford School of Public Policy (Duke University) from August 2007 to May 2009. With their diverse background and expertise, Charrise has developed strong research, leadership, and teaching skills in the fields of human services, education, and policy.

Charrise Phillips Hollingsworth, PhD, earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. Charrise then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Education, Culture, and Society from the University of Pennsylvania. Charrise further pursued their education and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Community Research and Action from Vanderbilt University.
