Kathleen Murphy

Kathleen Murphy has extensive work experience in research and project management. Kathleen is currently working at the American Institutes for Research as a Managing Researcher, where they previously held the roles of Principal Researcher and Senior Researcher. In these positions, Kathleen was responsible for leading research and investigation projects related to knowledge translation for employment and disability and rehabilitation research.

Before joining the American Institutes for Research, Kathleen worked at SEDL as a Project Director from 2004 to 2015, where they led research and evaluation activities for knowledge translation in employment and disability and rehabilitation research.

Prior to that, Kathleen served as an Assistant Research Professor at Baylor University from 2002 to 2004, and as a Research Associate at the University of Texas Austin from 2000 to 2002.

Their earlier work experience includes serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame from 1999 to 2000, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas-Austin from 1998 to 1999.

Kathleen's career began at the DC office of US Senator John Chafee, where they worked as a Legislative Research Assistant from 1987 to 1989. Overall, Kathleen has demonstrated their expertise in research and project management throughout their career.

Kathleen Murphy has an extensive educational background in the field of anthropology. Kathleen pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree at Harvard University from 1982 to 1986. Later, Kathleen went on to earn their PhD in Social Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin, studying there from 1991 to 1998. Additionally, they had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience as a Fulbright Scholar at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 1994-1995, specializing in anthropology.
