Nanyamka Hales, MPH has a range of experience in the healthcare industry. Nanyamka started their career as a Cancer Program Coordinator II at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in 2005. Nanyamka then worked at the American Cancer Society, taking on roles as a Community Executive for Health Initiatives from 2007 to 2011, and later as an Area Director for Health Initiatives from 2011 to 2013. Nanyamka then joined the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Comprehensive Cancer Control Director/ Federal Grants Manager from 2013 to 2016. Currently, they are the Director of Health Initiatives at the American Kidney Fund, a position they have held since 2016. Additionally, they have been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. since 1999.

Nanyamka Hales, MPH attended Westlake High School from 1993 to 1997. Nanyamka then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Clark Atlanta University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Later, they pursued a Masters of Public Health degree with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Boston University from 2002 to 2004.
