Leigh Winfrey

Editor, Fusion Science And Technology at American Nuclear Society

Leigh Winfrey currently serves as the ABS Professor of Engineering and Dean of the School of Engineering at the State University of New York Maritime College since August 2022. Winfrey holds the position of Editor for Fusion Science and Technology with the American Nuclear Society since January 2018, and was previously at Penn State University from May 2018 to June 2022 as Chair for Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering. Winfrey has experience as an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering and Graduate Program Coordinator at the University of Florida from December 2014 to May 2018, and as an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Virginia Tech from August 2011 to December 2014. Winfrey earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2010, a Master of Science in Physics from the same institution in 2007, a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Mathematics, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004.
