Kate Carey has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Kate has held various roles in government relations and political engagement. Most recently, they served as the Department Vice President of Federal Government Relations and Political Engagement at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, where they led the political engagement team and represented the association's membership before Congress and the Administration. Prior to this, they worked at MetLife for many years, holding positions such as Vice President and Head of Federal Government Relations, Vice President, Assistant Vice President, and Government Relations Counsel. Kate also worked as a Legislative Affairs Manager at the Mutual Company Legislative Group. Their earliest work experience was as a Legislative Assistant, providing legislative support to a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in managing government relations teams, developing government relations strategies, advocating before Congress and the Administration, and overseeing political action committees and grassroots programs.

Kate Carey received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from Santa Clara University in 1984. Kate then pursued their Juris Doctor (JD) degree from The Catholic University of America, graduating in 1991. Later, from 1993 to 1995, Kate furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Tax from Georgetown University Law Center.
