Mary Pat Cornett, CAE, CMP has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Mary Pat started their career as a Meetings Assistant at The Fertilizer Institute in 1982. Mary Pat then moved on to the U.S. Department of Commerce, where they provided meeting logistics and public relations support for the White House Conference on Productivity in 1983. Later, they joined the American Society for Training & Development as the Director of Conferences & Conventions, where they worked until 2001. From 2001 to 2007, they served as the Managing Director of Meetings, Conventions & Travel at the American Diabetes Association. In 2007, they joined the American Academy of Otolaryngology as the Senior Director of Education & Meetings, where they led a 13-member team responsible for planning and executing various professional development programs. Currently, Mary Pat is working at the American Society for Nutrition, where they held the position of Vice President of Meetings & International Affairs from 2015 to 2019, and now serves as the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer.

Mary Pat Cornett, CAE, CMP obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Dayton, where they studied from 1977 to 1981. Mary Pat has also received additional certifications throughout their career, including the Certified Association Executive (CAE) from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, which they obtained in June 2009. Additionally, they obtained the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification from the Events Industry Council in January 1999. Most recently, in March 2022, Mary Pat Cornett earned the Certified Meeting Professional Fellow designation from the Events Industry Council.
