Mark Dummett is currently the Head of Business and Human Rights and Deputy Programme Director at Amnesty International, leading a team focused on corporate accountability and human rights since January 2015. Previously, in an interim role, Mark headed the largest thematic programme in Amnesty’s Research, Advocacy and Policy Directorate, overseeing multiple teams and developing strategic plans in alignment with the organization’s long-term framework. With experience as a researcher and advisor on corporate human rights abuses, Mark has worked on significant issues such as environmental pollution in Nigeria and child labor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Prior to Amnesty International, Mark served as a consultant researcher for Human Rights Watch and worked as a freelance filmmaker and media consultant in South Asia. Mark’s earlier career includes a tenure at BBC News as a correspondent covering South Asia and as a senior producer for programs focused on Africa. Mark holds a Master’s degree from King's College London and a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Manchester.
